یومِ دِفاعِ پاکستان مبارک 

ایک مشہور صحافی نےمورچے میں بیٹھے سپاہی سے پوچھا...

"تم کتنا کما لیتے ہو"؟

اس نے حیرت سےمجھے دیکھا
اور بولا ...

"صاحب کیا میں یہاں ہتھیار تھامے کمائی کرنے بیٹھا ھوں"؟...

میں اسکے سوال نما جواب پر حیران هوا.

وه بولا:
"سنوصاحب!
میرا دادا سپاہی تھا،
اور دشمن سے لڑتا ھوا مارا گیا۔
میرا باپ بھی سپاہی تھا،
اور ایک دن اس کی بھی لاش گھر آ گئی.

اب میں نے یہ مورچہ
سنبھال لیا ھے ۔
ایک دن کوئی گولی اس مورچے کو میرے خون سے سرخ کرے گی.
اور پھر میرا بیٹا یہاں آکر میری جگہ سنبھال لے گا.

سنو صاحب...!
ھم وطن کے لیے سر کٹانے آتے ھیں،
دھندہ کرنے نہیں.

دھندا کرنے والے تو
ووٹ کی بھیک مانگا کرتے ھیں.

ان سے پہلے
یہ کام ان کے باپ دادا کرتے تھے
اور ان کے بعد ان کی اولاد بھی یہی کرے گی۔ ۔

ھم نے کام بانٹ رکھا ھے ۔

وہ تخت پر بیٹھتے ہیں،
اور ھم مورچے میں ۔

یہ نسلوں کے سودے ھیں"...

سپاہی دم لینے کو رکا

اور پھر کچھ سوچ کر
تلخی سے مسکراتے ھوئے کہنے لگا...

"صاحب نیچے ھو کر بیٹھو،
کہیں میرے نام کی کوئی گولی تمہیں اپنا شکار نہ سمجھ لے"

ابھی تو تم نے
جاکر یہ بھی سوچنا ھے کہ
"شہید کون ھوتا ھے۔ ۔ ۔"

سوچنے کا ٹھیکہ جو لے رکھا ھے تم لوگوں نے۔ ۔

ھماری تین نسلیں مورچوں میں ماری گئی ھیں،
اور تم مہنگی گاڑیوں والے
آج تک یہی نہیں سوچ سکے کہ
"شہید کون ھوتا ھے."

تمهارے لیڈر تخت کی خاطر مرنے پر
"شهید "کا خطاب پاتے هیں،
اور
اس وطن کی حفاظت کی خاطر جان لٹانے والوں کو تمهارا میڈیا
"هلاک "بولتا هے.

ابھی تو تم نے اور بڑا کچھ سوچنا هے صاحب.

یاد رکھو...

اے پتر ہٹاں تے نئیں وکدے
توں لبھدی پھریں بازار کڑے...
